  • Cedar Hill (TXCH)

    This circle includes Cedar Ridge Preserve, Cedar Hill State Park, Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center, Joe Pool Lake, and the cities of Cedar Hill, Duncanville, DeSoto, and Midlothian. Birders of all levels of expertise are welcome and needed. RSVP for a team assignment and details. The count compiler is Sheryll Barker, bebd@yahoo.com. Traditionally this count is held on January 1.

  • Dallas County (TXDA)

    The Dallas count circle is centered at the intersection of Inwood Road and Cedar Springs, so it is an urban/suburban count. The weather tends to be cool and occasionally rainy. For further details, contact volunteer coordinator Reba Collins by email at rcollins20@verizon.net or phone at 972-742-0312. Count compiler: Jim Peterson. Sponsored by Audubon Dallas. This count is traditionally held on the 3rd Saturday of December.

  • Erath County (TXEC)

    If you'd like to participate, please contact the compiler: Dayna Inbody, inbodyd@gmail.com. This count is traditionally held on the third Saturday in December.

  • Fort Worth (TXFW)

    Our bird count circle,15 miles in diameter, is centered at the Joint Reserve Base in west Fort Worth and is broken into 17 areas. Volunteers are always needed to help us count the birds! All levels of experience are welcome. This is great for beginners who can help us spot the birds and in the process learn to identify them and where to find them.   • Hagerman NWR (TXHA)

    The compiler is Wayne Meyer: wmeyer@austincollege.edu. Find out more on the Friends of Hagerman NWR website. Directions to headquarters: From the intersection of US 75 and US 82 in Sherman, go west about 1 mile to FM 1417, turn north for about 5.5 miles. Turn west on Refuge Rd and follow signs to headquarters (6 miles more).

  • Lake O' the Pines (TXLO)

  • Lake Ray Hubbard (TXLR)

    Some of the highlights from past CBC’s have been Red-breasted Merganser, Little Gull, Eurasian Wigeon, and Lesser Black-backed Gull. We count around Lake Ray Hubbard, associated city parks, wetlands, and riparian areas. For details contact Peter Assmann (assmann@utdallas.edu) or Mike Cameron (mike.cameron10@verizon.net).

  • Lake Tawakoni (TXLK)

    We meet around 7:00 AM at the Chevron station on the southwest side of Edgewood and end of the day at the Lumber Yard Café on the northeast edge of Edgewood for a roundup and a meal. It is usually one of the best counts in Northeast and North Central Texas. To participate please contact compiler Richard Kinney at rdkrsh@aol.com.

  • Longview (TXLG)

  • McKinney (TXMC)

    This count is jointly sponsored by the Heard Museum and Sanctuary and Prairie and Timbers Audubon Society, and it is open to all participants. The McKinney count circle is divided into 9 zones covering a variety of urban, suburban, and rural areas. Don't worry if you're not an experienced birder, we will pair you up with our more advanced birders/zone leaders! If you would like to volunteer feeder watch information within our circle, please let me know. For details, please contact the count compiler, Mike Cameron (mike.cameron10@verizon.net, 214-293-7778). This count is held annually on the day after Christmas.

  • Nacogdoches (TXNA)

    Pre-dawn owling to dusk. Brown-headed Nuthatch, Purple Finch, Fox Sparrow, Rusty Blackbird, and Henslow's Sparrow are just a few of the birds seen regularly on previous counts. We welcome any and all out-of-towners who would like to help!   • Palestine (TXPS)

    All help will be most appreciated! Species seen on recent counts include: Eared Grebe, White-tailed Kite, Bald Eagle, Crested Caracara, Prairie Falcon, Vermilion Flycatcher, White-breasted Nuthatch, Eastern Towhee, Lark, Fox, Le Conte's & Harris's Sparrows, Purple Finch. Meet in the parking lot at 6:15am of Southside Baptist Church. We will meet at 1pm at Little Mexico for lunch, countdown, and further areas to cover.   • Pineywoods (TXPI)

    Maps and directions will be distributed to teams gathered in the east parking lot of the AgriLife building in Livingston, TX (602 East Church St, aka Hwy 190E, Livingston) or alternatively, via email. Beginning time will be 7AM. End time 5PM with collection of documents at the AgriLife parking lot or via email the evening of December 17, 2022. (Nighttime owling data may also be submitted.) Photo documentations will be transferred electronically as needed. Decisions about gathering to share a meal will be made at the in-person distribution.   • Richland Creek WMA (TXRC)

    Richland Creek WMA Map The count circle reaches into 4 counties. Freestone, Navarro, Anderson and Henderson. It includes all of the Wildlife Management Area, plus Trinidad Lake, a large part of SE Henderson County, and parts of NE of Anderson Co. The WMA is in Freestone and Navarro counties.   • Texarkana - Wright Patman Lake (TXTE)

    All are welcome to participate. We will meet at the Corps of Engineers office at 7:00 AM. After dividing into groups, we will set out to our respective areas. Please contact Don Kyle at rondokyle@windstream.net for further details and let him know before January if you'd like to participate.

  • Tyler (TXTY)
